Beaches in Belize - Canvas Corp Brands

Do you have sea shells laying around the house that you found on the beach from that special vacation you went on? I did! We went on a cruise to Belize and my daughter brought home a bunch of shells and coral that she found on the beach. I made a 12x12 scrapbook page with some of the pictures from that day and added the shells to the page. Putting the layout into a 12x12 shadow box makes the perfect keepsake to hang on the wall or to place on a shelf.

Materials:
3. Glass Beads or Glass Filler
4. Tattered Angels High Impact Paint: Tan, Brown & White
5. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Tattered Leather & Iridescent Gold
6. Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam: Times Square, Camel & Bon Bon
8. Shells & Coral
9. 12x12 Shadow Box

Tools:
1. Spatula or Putty Knife
2. Paintbrush
3. Hot Glue Gun
4. Silhouette Cameo or other die cutting machine
_________________

Step 1: On the white cardstock spread some of the Tan High Impact Paint with a paper towel. You want to create a whitewashed look so try to create an uneven effect and do not cover the entire cardstock. You want to be able to see the white cardstock still through the paint. Repeat this same process on the kraft cardstock. On just the kraft cardstock flick, some of the Tan Impact paint with a paintbrush to create paint splatters on the page.

Step 2: Mix some of the glass beads or glass filler with the Tan High Impact Paint and a small drop of the Brown High Impact paint just to make it slightly darker than the tan. Add enough glass beads to make the paint look like wet sand.

Step 3: Spread the mixture on the bottom half of the WHITE cardstock with a spatula or putty knife and then let dry. Once dry spray the entire page with Glimmer Mist Iridescent Gold. Spraying it heavier in random areas over the glass beads and paint mixture on the bottom of your page.

Step 4: With a paintbrush on the top half of your page brush some Glimmer Glam in Times Square & Camel to create a sunset look. Mix some White High Impact Paint and water and paint over the top half of the page allowing it to puddle up. As it dries it will create "clouds" over the other layers.

Step 5: Using the KRAFT cardstock that you applied the Tan High Impact on and a die cut machine like the Silhouette Cameo cut out a fishing net image. I found a png image on the internet that I used. I cut it at about 10" x 5" Once cut spray it with Glimmer Mist in Tattered Leather. It will bead up because of the paint on the cardstock, just lightly blot it with a paper towel. You will get an uneven look because of the paint, which you want.

Step 6: Adhere a strip of fringed burlap onto the white cardstock with a hot glue gun and then the fishing net piece you cut out and then your pictures over that.

Step 7: Dab some areas of the sand with Glimmer Glam Bon Bon and a paintbrush to create darker areas within the sand.

Step 8: Adhere some shells and coral to your layout with a hot glue gun. Paint some stamped shell images with Glimmer Glam Camel and place them in the fishing net.

I Love You Card - The Little Blue House

Sharing another project I made using Pink Paislee Bella Rouge from The Little Blue House online store. I made this card for my daughter.

I had to show a close up of this uber cute Sequin Butterfly from the Pink Paislee Bella Rouge collection. To me they look more like a bow though and I think they would be super cute on a Mickey Mouse or Disney layout.

Love This - Picture This!

Up on the Picture This! blog is a new challenge, to use 3 pictures and in a vertical placement. I'm not usually one who likes things to be symmetrical on my pages so this was kinda a challenge for me.

I love this accordion heart by Pebbles. I brushed a metallic silver paint over the folds of the heart.

I had fun sewing too. Sewing is something I don't do very often and I'm not sure why because I always like how it looks when done. I also flicked some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Cadillac Pink and Beetle Black onto the background.

Product List:

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: Crate Paper Kiss Kiss, Echo Park Lucky In Love, Basic Grey J'Adore
Embellishments: Pebbles, A Flair For Buttons, Basic Grey

Mixed Media Layout Tutorial

Supply List:
1. Spatula or old credit card/gift card
2. Gesso
3. Perfect Pearls or Paint and spray inks
4. Spray Mister
5. Pink Paislee Bella Rouge paper collection or 4-5 patterned papers
6. Pink Paislee Bella Rouge embellishments or other embellishments
7. Wink of Stella Glitter Brush
8. Distress Ink and Blender
9. Standard scrappy supplies... adhesive, scissors, paper trimmer
______________________

1.  Apply some Gesso with a spatula or an old credit card or gift card onto your background paper. Try to make it as uneven as possible leaving some areas thicker than other areas. Don't worry about drying it yet.
Tip: I like to save the plastic from packages to pour my Gesso in and to mix paints in.

2. Add some Perfect Pearls (I used pink) or paint into the Gesso. I like the Perfect Pearls because I wanted the metallic look that it gives. Paint will work just as well, you just wont get the the metallic look to it. Apply the Gesso mixture randomly over your 1st Gesso layer with your spatula or plastic card.

3. Then randomly sprinkle some Perfect Pearls (I used gold) onto your background paper. Using a water mister, spray the Perfect Pearls that you just sprinkled until it is wet. It will look almost like its melting when it's wet enough. Don't worry if the water puddles up some onto the paper. The Gesso will cause it to do that. Placing something heavy on all 4 corners of your paper to hold it down from curling up you can either leave your page for a few hours to dry or you can use a heat gun to speed up the drying process. If you use a heat gun make sure to not hold it too close to the paper or in one spot for too long or the Gesso will start to bubble.

(Before Water)
(With Water)

4. Once the background paper is dry you can now add your paper layers and embellishments. I layered a picture of my daughter from last years daddy/daughter Valentines dance over one of the frames in the Bella Rouge Chipboard Sticker Pack and 2 papers from the collection. Cutting each of the papers slightly bigger then then your picture and angling them in different directions from one another. I cut the beautiful title from one of the Bella Rouge 4x4 Card Pack. I absolutely LOVE the Frayed Flowers & Charms.

5. For the finishing touches I created some flowers onto the background using a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush in Gold. To create the flowers, I pressed the side of the brush onto the paper to make a petal. Repeated it 5-6 times in a circle to create the flower. Depending on how much of the tip you press down on its side will determine how big your flower is. I suggest practicing a few times on a scrap piece of paper before trying it on your layout.

6. After creating the flowers on my layout I added a few white enamel dots and flicked some black spray ink onto the background. To flick the ink onto my page I unscrewed the top off the bottle and tapped the tube that was in the bottle over my page with something hard like a pencil or pen. Make sure to cover your picture on your layout with a scrap piece of paper before doing this. I have ruined a few pictures by not covering it. Around the outside edges of the background paper I applied some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot with the Tim Holtz Blending Tool.

Thank you for looking and happy scrapping!

Ka-Chow - Picture This!

Hey everyone! Today's new challenge over at Picture This! is to use 2 photos + Photo Repetition + Splatters. For the photo repetition part of the challenge I used the same picture of my daughter but one is more of a close up picture. I really like repeating pictures like that. I really have no idea where my daughter got the idea to model stance she was trying to do in these pictures but it cracked me up.
For the splatter part of the challenge, well that was super easy for me since ALL my pages pretty much have some kind of a splatters on them.

On the background for my splatters I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Black Magic & Summer Glow and Tattered Angels Chalkboard in Ruby Slippers.

On the title I distressed it some by randomly stamping over it with 7gypsies Distressed Background Stamp and then outlined on the letters with a Copic marker R37. Then traced the letters onto the background paper once glued down with a black pen.

Product List:

Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket Get Happy
Embellishments: Cosmo Cricket
Stickers: Washi Tape
Alpha: Thickers
Stamps: 7gypsies
Mixed Medias: Tattered Angels
Writing Tools: Copic, Zig
Miscellaneous: Fiskars Punch
