Trick or Treat Mixed Media Layout for The Little Blue House

With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I would share this spooky Trick or Treat layout I created for The Little Blue House using the Carta Bella Trick or Treat Collection.

To create my background page I used the Carta Bella Spider Web Stencil and some modeling paste to create some web designs onto a piece of Kraft cardstock. Once dry I sprayed some color mists around the areas I stenciled and then sprayed some water over the mists and held my paper up on its side to let the color mists and water run down the paper. I then dried and flicked some different colors of color mist onto the paper with a paint brush. I cut the kraft cardstock piece down about a 1/4 inch on all sides and adhered to an orange piece of cardstock. Adhering it to another piece of cardstock gives it a fun border and it also helps with any warping that the kraft cardstock may have from using the paste and sprays.

I removed the standard string from a mini canvas bag and replaced it with a fun colored braided ribbon. Then I grunged up the bag by rubbing some distress ink onto it.  I made some random folds and adhered them together so the bag had creases in it. From the Carta Bella Trick or Treat Papers I cut out some die cut shapes and sayings and adhered them to the bag so it looked like they were popping out of the bag.

For the wood veneer spider, I colored it with some black soot distress ink and then used some clear embossing powder over it to give it a shiny look.

Then I adhered the canvas bag to my background page and layered up some cut up pieces of the Carta Bella Trick or Treat collection and adhered them over the canvas bag with some 3D foam adhesives.

You Have Been "BOO'ED" Treat Door Hanger

Over on The Little Blue House blog they have a Trick or Treat October Blog Series going on and with prizes too! Make sure to stop on by their blog for tons of inspirational Halloween ideas.
For my first project, I created this fun treat door hanger using the Carta Bella Trick or Treat Collection. It was super easy to make, see how below.

1. Using a 12x12 piece of paper, roll it into a cone and adhere it with a quick drying glue. I used a hot glue gun.

2. Trim the top of the cone so it's even. Cut two small circles from a scrap piece of cardstock glue them onto the sides of the cone at the top and punch a hole in each side. Then using a piece of wire connect it to each side of the cone.

3. Hot glue a piece of ribbon around the top part of the cone, scrunching it up slightly so it has a ruffled effect.

 4. Take about a 6 inch piece of ribbon and fold in half. Cut up into the folded ribbon creating strips leave about a half inch uncut at the folded area of the ribbon.

5. Roll the ribbon piece up and glue into the end of the cone.

6. Embellish as desired, and add some yummy treats.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting!

C'est Magnifique October Kit Reveal

Hello, everyone! Today I am sharing the rest of the layouts I created using the C'est Magnifique October Kits. These kits are absolutely gorgeous! The Prima Garden Fable papers give this kit a romantic feel. In addition to using the October Main Kit, I also used the October Embellishment Add-On KitOctober Flower Add-On Kit, and the October Mixed Media Kit.

The add-on kits are a fabulous addition to the main kit. I created five layouts total (that is including the layout I create for October C'est Magnifique Sketch) with these kits using lots of products on each one, and I still have a ton of products left to create several more layouts if I wish.

I had lots of fun using the tags in the kits and creating lots of layers on this layout. This was a picture of me when I was little learning to swim.

From my stash: Thread, Pink & Black Cardstock, and Color Mists.

I think this next layout is my favorite of them all. I love the purples and it matched perfectly with my son's prom dates dress. On the chandelier chipboard piece, I used some embossing powders and for the doilies, I used the packaging from the Prima flowers.

From my stash: Purple & White Cardstock, Embossing Powders, Cheese Cloth, Gesso and Color Mists

Who says you can't use flowers and pink on layouts with guys on them? I love how this layout turned out of my dad and me.

From my stash: Clear Gesso, Cream Cardstock, and Color Mists

For my last layout, I created this super cute page of our rotten Rottweiler when she was a puppy. Green is my favorite color so of course I love this page, and it also helps that the picture is super cute too.

From my stash: Dark Brown Cardstock, Dry Wall Tape, Brown Distress Ink, Gesso, and Color Mists

Thank you for looking, and I hope you were inspired. To see all of the C'est Magnifique Kits click HERE.  Make sure to visit the C'est Magnifique blog to see all of the design teams creations.

Making Boo Door Signs with Deflecto Crafts

Hello, everyone! With Halloween being less than a month away, I decided to make this cute "BOO" sign. Each year my kids love to boo their friends by leaving a surprise gift at their door and then they are to hang a sign on their door to let others know that they have already been boo'ed. So for this year I am making these boo signs using Deflecto Crafts Sign Tags and Marker (899112RT).

These Deflecto Crafts Sign Tags and Marker (899112RT) can easily be cut and even embossed as I did for this project.

Once embossed I used the Chalkmarker that comes with the sign tags to color the embossed areas.

Then taking some cheese cloth and spraying it with some color spray and adhering it the back of the tag with a hot glue gun.

Punch a hole to hang it on the top, embellish the front with some chipboard letters and stickers and it is ready to "BOO" your friends.

To see more projects that the Deflecto team has created, visit the Deflecto Craft Facebook page. To find out where you can purchase these fun tags visit the Deflecto Crafts website.
