What's Up Doc? - Let's Get Sketchy

Hello! Let's Get Sketchy has a new sketch up on their blog today. I used some pictures of my kids at Bugs Bunnies Home at Marineworld.

I mixed some Gesso and orange Dylusions and spread that in a thin layer on the background. Also used some Tattered Angels Stained Glass in Orange. Then sprayed more Dylusions and let it run down the page some.

I fussy cute the quote bubbles and the view finder out from some pieces of Simple Stories Daily Grind. I pop dotted the quote bubbles up.

Baby It's Cold Outside - Red Carpet Studio

Hello! Today over at Red Carpet Studio there is a new challenge inspired by the movie Frozen. Which is pretty much what I have been all week, frozen. Its been so cold here where I live. The challenge is to use something glittery. Which was perfect for me to try out the Glass Beads Texture Gel that I have had for awhile now. I like it! It added a fun texture to my background and it kinda looks like snow crystals.

I used Gesso over the edges of the doilies paper to stick it down and used the Glass Bead Texture Gel in a few places over that. Then sprayed Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Trunk Bay. I think that has to be my favorite color by them that I have tried so far.

I really like the little crystals on these Prima flowers. I thought they were perfect for a wintery page since it looks like ice. The title I cut out using my Silhouette Cameo.

Girl Time - Let's Get Sketchy

Hello! It's time for another sketch reveal over at Let's Get Sketchy! I went all out girly on this page of my daughter and her friends. Also had lots of fun using different mixed mediums on the background.

Used lots of Gesso on the torn edges of the papers and then once dried rolled the edges up slightly. Took some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Cadillac Pink and with a paint brush painted it on the edges. Also sprayed the mist close to the paper and tilted the page to let it drip down the paper some.

Painted some Tattered Angels Simply Sheer Plain Jane in Vintage Blue on the white flowers to give them a slight blue tone to them. Fussy cut one of the roller skates from the Crate Paper Oh Darling and then tucked it in with the flower cluster along with a die cut ticket I had in my stash.

Flicked Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Beetle Black and Gesso. I also really love these butterflies from Prima.

The LGS sketch I used for inspiration.

Me - Red Carpet Studio

Hello! Today I have a page I created for Red Carpet Studio. The challenge is inspired by the movie New Years Eve and to use stars and something new on our projects.
I created this page of a picture of me which I am never overly excited about doing but it's my goal for the new year, to get more pictures of me scrapped. And like what the journaling says "I'm not perfect, but I am perfect at being me".
On the background I used some Gesso did some random stamping with the 7gypsies Distressed Background Stamp and then sprayed some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Electric Blue and some Tattered Angels Plain Jain Simply Sheer Vintage Blue.

The gold dots were created by using a stencil and some gold paint.

I punched some stars out of cardstock and doodled some lines around the picture and onto right side of the page.

With a stencil and distress ink I sponged some distress circles around the edges of my page and flicked some mist onto the background.

Cheers - Let's Capture Our Memories

Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a great weekend so far. Let's Capture Our Memories has a new sketch reveal today. I really struggle with 4 picture layouts so this page was a challenge for me. I was also trying a new technique that didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. Will need to work on that. Anyhow, here is the page I came up with for the LCOM sketch.

I tried doing some polka dots with some modeling paste and a stencil and then spraying some mists on it. I really didn't get the results I was wanting but it is still kinda fun in an unusual kind of way.

Stocking Fun - My Scraps & More Sketches #97

Hello scrappy friends! My Scraps & More Sketches has it's 1st sketch reveal up for the new year. I used one of my favorite Christmas collections from Crate Paper and I'm kinda sad that I am running out of it. For the background of my page I mixed some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Ruby Slippers in with some Gesso and painted it onto the background. Also flicked some of it onto the background along with some Tattered Angels Plain Jane Baseboard in Leaf.

I really love all the cute chipboard pieces in this collection.

Roller Skating - Picture This!

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a good one. I'm kinda happy about life getting back to normal now that all the holidays are behind us, whatever normal is.
Today I have a layout I created for Picture This!, a brand new challenge blog. The challenge recipe was to use a 1 photo, a sunburst and some paint.
It took me a little while but I finally came up with page of my daughter and one of her friends at the roller skating rink for her birthday. I also made posted a tutorial below on a quick easy way to make a sunburst.

Here is a super easy way to make a sunburst with paper for either half your layout or for an entire 12x12 page.

1. You will need a 6x6 piece of paper and then fold it in half like shown below.

2. Then fold it in half again.

3. Unfold and number the triangles, 1 through 4.

4. Cut the triangles on the fold lines.

5. Take a 12x12 piece of paper and cut it in half so it is 6 in wide. Then starting with triangle #1 in the bottom left corner trace around it and then line up #2 next to it and trace and so on till you get to #4 and then use triangle #1 again like in the below picture.

6. Once all triangles are traced it should look like this.

 7. Now cut along your traced lines. I knew I wanted to use 2 different patterned papers and because I'm lazy I held another piece of paper behind the one that I drew the lines on and cut both pieces at the same time. If you are uncomfortable doing that then just repeat the above process on as many other papers you would like to use. Once all cut out you can see what it looks like on half of a page. Since I used 2 pieces of papers there are enough pieces to do a full page but I only wanted to do half.

8. This is an extra step. Because I was using a pattered paper as my base for the sunburst and I wanted some of it to be within the sunburst I took a few of the triangle pieces and cut it a little smaller. Make sure to keep the point of the triangle the thinnest part and the wider part at the top to be where you take more off. Like the example below.

Here are some close ups of my finished sunburst. I thinly spread some Gesso with an old gift card on the edges of the triangles, distressed some of the edges once the Gesso dried and then sewed some extra rays onto the sunburst. Flicked some mists onto it and viola, all done!
